Q&A on Information and Communication Technology

Q) What is the 5G technology and how it is different from the 4G and Discuss its potential applications in day-to-day life?

Ans:-

5G is the fifth generation technology for mobiles phones. It uses higher radio frequency waves and spectrum in order to cater the seamless communication Services.

5G Vs 4G:-

5G is different from 4G interms of speed of internet,  Low Latency Rate, Bandwidth, Tower Size, S/N Ratio.

Speed:- 5G has 10 to 100 times more speed than 5G.
Bandwidth:- 4G uses 2300 Mhz, whereas india is going to use 3300-3600 Mhz for 5G. Such higher bandwidth enables the higher data transmission in less time.
S/N Ratio and Tower size:- High S/N Ratio and short sized signal towers requires less electricity and emits less radio signals per unit.

Note:-
  1. Time taken between two bits of data during transmission.
  2. Higher Bandwidth:- Higher data can be transferred in less time.
  3. S/N Ratio:- High SNR means high signal to low noise.

Applications:-

5G is going to transform the Human to Human, Human to Machine and Machine to Machine Communications in India.

Human to Human Communication:- Seamless network enables in communication in the form of — Video callings, virtual meetings, public service delivery, Remote Surgery, m-Health, e.t.c.,

Human to Machine:- Due to the continuous and high speed connectivity, 5G would proliferate the IoT(Internet of Things) such as Smart watches, Smart Phones, Social Networking sites, Video Monitoring, Healthcare monitoring, self-driving cars, Self-propelling drones, e.t.c.,

Machine to Machine:-

5G service would transform scientific fields like Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Bigdata, Robotics and other fields.

Intervention and progress in the above fields not only brings the revolution in technological fields but also brings unprecedented changes in Communication, Health, Governance, Transportation, Learning, Science and Technology and other important fields, upon which life of the human is heavily dependant.
